In this blog I am going to discuss exactly where I went wrong in my bulk. I feel that everything is a learning experience. Many people say, I look great. However, the pictures don’t lie. I have gained a bit of fat. How much I can’t say, but the pictures show some gain.
Well what did you do wrong?
I knew I was carb sensitive but I wouldn’t sure how bad I was. So, when I first started this bulk I was leary of ingesting a large amount carbs. However, I knew that I *needed* to consume a large amount to gain muscle. So, I started consuming around 2-2.5 grams of carbs per pound of body weight. So, I would say on my "HIGH" days I was consuming around 400 grams of carbs.
During this time I decided on adding a weight gainer to the mix. I figured why not? I know, I can make some decent gains with this product. Judging from the pictures, the only gain I see is a nice bagel around he waist. Now, I can’t directly point it to the weight gainer, but I do know that I want over my carb "threshold" and I started to add some fat. Many say and believe that adding fat is part of bulking. Well, I say BS! Why would I go through all this hard work in losing fat, just so I can put it back on? Before I go on, I want to make note that 99% of my food intake was "clean". I didn’t pig out on pancakes, pizza’s, cookies or pie.
Even though I don’t like the look of my current pictures, I must admit the strength is great. I believe I added some muscle, possibly a pound or two. That’s right one to two pounds of muscle out of a 20 pound gain. Could most of it be water? Possibly, but it’s no doubt that some of it is fat.
Well what are you going to do?
For starters, I am going to cut. My goal is to hit under 10%. It should be much easier this time because I have a foundation of muscle. If I ever do decide to bulk again, it’s going to much leaner, not so many calories, and
NOT SO MANY CARBS.
