Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you all! Just remember that it doesn't take a new year in order to change something. As always you can check back here for fitness and nutrition tips.

Carbs.

There is something that needs to be cleared up. Under no circumstances should you not be consuming any carbs. Even when I was on the Anabolic Diet, I kept my carbs at 30 grams per day. Now, that I am carb cycling, my carb levels are at .5 grams per pound of bodyweight. So right now I am I am consuming around 100 grams of carbs per day. These carbs are centered around my workout, so for me that would be breakfast, post workout and the meal after. So to recap. You need carbs to function. You should always eat carbs, the focus should be the amount and when to consume them.

Where I went wrong…

In this blog I am going to discuss exactly where I went wrong in my bulk. I feel that everything is a learning experience. Many people say, I look great. However, the pictures don’t lie. I have gained a bit of fat. How much I can’t say, but the pictures show some gain. Well what did you do wrong? I knew I was carb sensitive but I wouldn’t sure how bad I was. So, when I first started this bulk I was leary of ingesting a large amount carbs. However, I knew that I *needed* to consume a large amount to gain muscle.  So, I started consuming around 2-2.5 grams of carbs per pound of body weight. So, I would say on my "HIGH" days I was consuming around 400 grams of carbs. During this time I decided on adding a weight gainer to the mix. I figured why not? I know, I can make some decent gains with this product. Judging from the pictures, the only gain I see is a nice bagel around he waist. Now, I can’t directly point it to the weight gainer, but I do know that I want over my car...

Bulking....

As many of you know, I have been bulking for a few weeks now. I can't say how long I have been doing it, but I think it's around 6 or 7 seven weeks. Well, let me the first to tell you that this shit is not a good look. If have put a some fat and I have been eating clean. That's right, pizza binges, ice cream drownings. None of that crap. Yet, I still feel fat. I hate the look, I hate the tight clothes. Not good, not good at all. Well stop complaining and do something about it! Well no shit! I have been doing a lot of reading from Greg Plitt. Google his name and you will see what I am talking about. There are other ways to bulk and consuming large amounts of calories is not for me. Starting in January, I plan to reach a new level of leaness. I hope you all can join me for the ride.

Some clarification is in order.

I feel that there is a few things that need to be clarified. I receive a lot of questions regarding the Anabolic Diet. Here a few misconceptions: 1. It's a no carb diet - This is false. You start off with 30 grams of carbs, however this can change per the individual. On a set day, you load up on carbs. This period may last between 24 to 48 hours. 2. You will gain fat - You will gain fat with anything you eat. It's all about burning more calories than you consume. However, with the Anabolic Diet, fat is being used as a fuel source. Since fat is 9 calories per gram, you will consume more calories but the amount of food will be the same. So, I hope this quick blog clears some things up.

This is what you all have been waiting for...

***DRUM ROLL PLEASE*** This is what you all have been waiting for. This is small example of what I was eating when I first started. This was from December of 2007. Milk, cow's, fluid, 1% fat 10 fl oz 128 3.2 14.6 10.0 Syntha-6 2 serving 400 12.0 30.0 44.0 BSN N.O Xplode 2 serving 60 0.0 14.0 0.0 BSN True Mass 1 serving 630 16.0 76.0 46.0 White potato, NFS 2 medium (2-1/4" to 3" dia, raw) 217 0.3 50.5 4.3 Lehigh Valley - milk Chug 2% Reduced Fat 2 serving 260 10.0 24.0 16.0 Total 1,695 41.5 209.1 120.4 Now that I look back at this I laugh. I will assume that in the next two years, I will look back at my current meal plan and do the same thing. It's all about learning. Many people ask me about what's the best diet and what I ate when I started. Well, here it is. This is exactly what I ate, and I suggest you don't do this. For the most part you want to stick to low glycemic carbs. Oa...

Thank you!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone, who has been responding to my recent success. It's refreshing to know that people are out there pulling for you to succeed. I know we all shall reach our fitness and whatever goals we decide to set.

The Start of a New Era!
