You have gained a few pounds and now you want to get it off. A number of emotions are going through your head, most importantly anger. You’re mad because you got yourself into this situation. You’re frustrated because you don’t know how to get out of it. The good thing is that it’s not the end of the world. You will have to plan, take action, and most importantly make sacrifices. There will be times you are going to want to quit. You will constantly be bombarded by the television, your friends, and family. You just have to stick with it and “suck” it up so you can reach your fitness goals.
TRACK YOUR INTAKE
Starting right now, track everything you eat. It doesn’t matter if it’s a stick of gum, track it. Then after 2 weeks review what you have eaten and move on to step 2. A side note regarding tracking your intake. When people are being monitored and that includes monitoring ourselves, for the most part, we tend to put our best foot forward. What this means is that most people will drastically cut back on what they are eating because they are now mindful of what they are doing.
SET SOME GOALS
If you don’t know where you want to go, you won’t go anywhere. Be realistic with your goals. Setting a goal of losing 100 pounds in 5 months is not realistic. If it was, I highly doubt you would be reading this blog anyway. After you have set some realistic goals move to step 3…
SET YOUR MACROS
You can set your calories by reading my blog on How to calculate your macros for cutting or you can use a number of calculators online. After you set your macros you need to start tracking, download the MyFitnessPal app and input your numbers (the paid version only allows adjustments in grams).
FINAL THOUGHTS
You now have a plan to get yourself out of your current situation. All it takes is a good mindset, a plan, and you’re good to go.
